Now you've been all the way around the block regarding basic
strategy blackjack. It's a completely automatic mode of
play that should be totally unaffected by anything you may
think or see. Indeed, the basic strategist plays the game
like a mindless robot.
But right on the next page is where all that begins to change.
As you progress beyond basic strategy, it becomes both your
privilege and responsibility to notice outside factors which
will influence your decisions for the better. That's where
you start to become an honest to goodness "card player"
at the blackjack table.
most of the
better players come out 1between 1:00 and 3:00 A.M. Why?
To minimize negative influences that could poten¬tially
affect their game. Fewer folks at the table means more control.
No drunks, no inexperienced players playing incor¬rectly,
lower noise levels with fewer folks around, not as many
slot machines going ding, ding, ding and boi4g, bong, bong,
all in all add up to a more relaxed environment. Remember
to always try to find a table where you can play two positions
(double the table minimum to do this) and not get too anxious
about the cash you have out there.
Therefore, if you are a $"> bettor, then try to
find a $7 table; betting two positions means you're betting
$10 per position or $20 total. If this makes you uncomfortable,
then try and find a $3 table. Just try to be flex¬ible
enough to bet two positions when you have to, and try not
to be nervous about doing it. By playing in the early-morn¬ing
hours, your chance of finding lower limit tables with no
players is optimal, and you can play several hours without
being hindered by inexperienced players jumping in and out
of the game. Going to higher limit tables ($1> and greater),
you are almost assured of being alone and unhindered.
